Old Dominion Utility Services, Inc. (ODUS)
Joint Base Langley-Eustis (also known as Fort Eustis) is the home of the U.S. Army Transportation Corps and the U.S. Army Aviation Logistics School. Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story (also known as Fort Story) is a premiere location for Army amphibious operations training, while Fort Lee provides training in more areas of specialization than any other Army installation and to almost 40 percent of all Army personnel.
Old Dominion Utility Services, Inc. (ODUS), owns, operates, and maintains the water and wastewater systems at Joint Base Langley-Eustis (JBLE) and Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story (JEBLCFS), as well as the wastewater system at Fort Lee, all in Virginia. The federal government conveyed ownership of these systems to ODUS in early 2006 for a 50-year term, as part of the Department of Defense utility privatization (UP) initiative. The central ODUS office is located at Fort Eustis with satellite offices at Fort Story and Fort Lee.
ODUS operates and maintains more than 500,000 linear feet of water distribution pipe and three storage tanks holding more than one million gallons of water. The subsidiary takes pride in delivering drinking water that meets all federal and state water quality standards. ODUS also operates and maintains more than 700,000 linear feet of wastewater collection pipe and 92 lift stations.
With a deep commitment to customer care, ODUS diligently works to protect every drop of water from source to tap for Forts Eustis and Story, along with maintaining the Forts Eustis, Story, and Lee wastewater systems. As a utility provider, ODUS regularly analyzes its water and wastewater systems to determine what areas need repair, replacement, or new facilities. In addition, ODUS puts a strong focus on water efficiency, with ongoing outreach that helps customers learn how to better manage their water use.
ODUS is honored to provide services that support the roles these military installations play in defending the country and supporting military operations overseas and the 74,000 military, civilian, and family members who live and work at Forts Eustis, Story, and Lee.
