Fort Eustis, Fort Story, & Fort Gregg-Adams

ABOUT ASUS

Three vital military installations are located in eastern Virginia. Near Newport News, Joint Base Langley-Eustis is the home of the U.S. Army Transportation Corps and Aviation Logistics School. About an hour to the east lies Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story, the premier location for Army amphibious operations training. Further inland up the James River, Fort Gregg-Adams (formerly known as Fort Lee) provides instruction in more areas of specialization than any other installation, training nearly 40 percent of all Army personnel. Old Dominion Utility Services, Inc. (ODUS), a wholly owned subsidiary of ASUS, owns, operates, and maintains water and wastewater systems at all three of these illustrious bases.

The federal government sanctioned ownership of these systems to ODUS in early 2006, beginning a 50-year contract as part of the Department of Defense’s Utility Privatization Initiative. Fort Eustis is home to the central ODUS headquarters, while satellite offices are located at Forts Story and Gregg-Adams. The company oversees a variety of utility assets, including almost 600,000 feet of water piping and 800,000 feet of wastewater piping; 3 storage tanks holding more than 1 million gallons of water; and 118 wastewater lift stations.

Our state-certified operators ensure the safe delivery of all potable water and the secure removal of wastewater, carefully adhering to both local and federal regulations. With a deep commitment to customer care, ODUS works diligently to protect every drop of water. As a utility provider, we constantly analyze our distribution and collection systems to determine which areas might need repair, replacement, or even supplementary facilities.

ODUS also puts a strong focus on water efficiency, actively providing educational outreach for customers to further encourage better resource management. We at ODUS are proud to be able to provide our services to the 74,000 military personnel, civilians, and family members who live and work at Forts Eustis, Story, and Gregg-Adams. We are honored to support the role these military installations play in defending the country, both at home and abroad.
