Pax River

ABOUT ASUS

Located in Maryland, NAS Patuxent (Pax) River serves as the Navy’s principal flight and ground test and evaluation activity and the center for systems acquisition related to naval aviation. Pax River is responsible for ship/shore/air excellence integration and is home to several of the Navy’s critical mission commands, including the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), the U.S. Naval Test Wing Atlantic (NTWL), the Commander, Fleet Readiness Centers (COMFRC), the Naval Air Station Port Operations, and the United States Coast Guard (USCG) Station St. Inigoes. In 2023, Pax River Utility Services, Inc. (PRUS), a wholly owned subsidiary of ASUS, was selected as the sole provider for water distribution and wastewater collection by entering into a 50-year privatization contract.

PRUS owns and oversees water and wastewater utility assets on the Pax River main base, as well as Webster Field, Glenn Forest Housing, and Solomons Island – the Navy’s largest outdoor recreational facility and retirement quarters for outgoing Navy leadership. The systems we own and operate span more than 820,000 linear feet of pipe, 8 booster pump stations, 26 wells, 23 storage tanks, 33 lift stations, and a Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). Our state-certified operators ensure the safe delivery of all potable water and the secure removal of wastewater, carefully adhering to both local and federal regulations. With a deep commitment to customer care, PRUS works diligently to protect every drop of water. As a utility provider, we constantly analyze our distribution and collection systems to determine which areas might need repair, replacement, or even supplementary facilities. PRUS also puts a strong focus on water efficiency, actively providing educational outreach for customers to further encourage better resource management. We at PRUS are proud to be able to provide our services to the military personnel, civilians, and family members who live and work at Pax River and its surrounding facilities. We are honored to support the role these military installations play in defending the country, both at home and abroad.
